THE PROBLEM

This client had some early traction in the Major League Baseball industry; however, due to the onset of the pandemic, they were faced with unprecedented challenges. The client was unsure of how long they could expect Major League sports to be suspended, how the industry would look in a post-pandemic world, and how their future financial performance would be affected.

THE APPROACH

ACE utilized a three-pronged approach to tackle this problem. First, an in-depth analysis of previous game-stopping events was conducted in order to gage recovery time, fan response, and financial impact. To determine how the industry would look in a post-pandemic world, ACE evaluated the current state of sports in countries with minimal Coronavirus cases/countries ahead in the reopening process. This provided insight to the post-pandemic baseball scene. Lastly, ACE consolidated individual MLB team’s financial losses from the pandemic to determine projected losses and changes in revenue streams.

THE RESULT

Following this analysis, the client was able to adapt to the pandemic and respond to the changes in industry using our historical and geographical analysis as well as our projections. This enabled them to be better equipped in executing their business model and being on track to achieving their operational goals.
